Asteroids (rev 4)

About Asteroids (rev 4)

Asteroids (rev 4) is an official revision of the 1979 arcade classic, developed and published by Atari, Inc. and also distributed in Japan by Taito and Sega. This multidirectional shooter tasks players with piloting a triangular spaceship through a treacherous asteroid field while dodging debris and enemy saucers. The rev 4 build incorporates tweaks to the original code, though the core experience remains the iconic vector-graphics shoot-'em-up that defined an era.

How to Play Asteroids (rev 4) Online

Getting Started

Press Enter to insert a credit, then press Start (Enter again) to begin. Your ship appears in the center of the screen surrounded by slowly moving asteroids. Use the arrow keys to rotate your ship left or right, then press the down arrow to thrust forward. Press X to fire bullets at the rocks. Each asteroid breaks into smaller pieces when shot; small pieces can be destroyed entirely.

Your main goal is to survive as long as possible while racking up points. Flying saucers will occasionally appear and fire back at you. Colliding with any asteroid, saucer, or enemy bullet destroys your ship. You can press S for a risky hyperspace jump that teleports you to a random spot on the screen. The game loops until you lose all your lives. New waves bring more asteroids and tougher saucers.
