Getting Started

When you first boot up the game, you'll see a language selection screen because this cartridge supports ten European languages. Pick your preferred one and then start a new file. The opening sequence quickly sets up the story: the Brickster has broken out of prison and is causing trouble around Lego Island. Your character (usually Pepper or another minifigure) will appear in the main hub area.

Move around with the D-Pad and talk to other Lego characters by pressing the A button. They'll give you hints and tasks to progress the story. The core loop involves going from one area to another, collecting items like pizza slices or bricks, and completing simple missions. You'll need to find keys, open doors, and occasionally avoid or defeat enemies using the B button. Don't forget to save your progress at the save points scattered around - they look like small computers.

The game is fairly linear but encourages you to explore each area thoroughly. Pay attention to dialogue because some puzzles require you to bring a specific item to a character or use a tool you picked up earlier. If you get stuck, try talking to everyone again or revisiting previous zones with a new item. It's a straightforward adventure that stays faithful to the Lego Island spirit despite the hardware limitations.
