Getting Started

Wetrix GB is a puzzle game where your goal is to shape a landscape to contain rising water. You drop blocks onto a flat grid, and these blocks either raise the terrain or create walls. The core loop involves planning where to place each block to form basins that hold water, which rains down periodically. If water spills off the edge, you lose a life.

As a Japanese-only release, the menus and text are entirely in Japanese. The main menu options are typical for puzzle games: start game, options, possibly a tutorial. You can navigate with the D-pad and confirm with the A button (X key). In-game, you use the D-pad to move a cursor around the grid and place blocks. The B button (S key) may cancel or undo a placement. Pay attention to the color of the blocks: some may have special effects like absorbing water or melting.

New players should start with the easiest difficulty to learn the mechanics. The game gives you a limited number of blocks per round, so you must think ahead. Managing the water level is key - you can also use bombs or other tools occasionally to reshape the terrain. There is no save feature that is obvious, so expect to complete a session in one sitting or use emulator save states.
