Pole Position II on the ATARI 7800 is a port of the 1983 arcade racing sequel by Namco. Atari bundled it as the pack-in game for the 7800 ProSystem in 1986, so millions of players first experienced the console with this title. It's a straightforward racing game where you drive a Formula One car around a track against the clock and computer opponents. You control your car with steering left and right, accelerate, and brake. The core loop starts with a qualifying lap: you must complete one clean circuit within a time limit to earn a starting position for the actual race.
