Getting Started

When you boot up Basketbrawl, you'll see a title screen. Press Start to begin a game. You control a two-man basketball team. The core loop is simple: get the ball, dribble or pass down the court, and try to score. But unlike standard basketball games, you can also intentionally foul and punch opponents to steal the ball or knock them down.

Your goal is to outscore the opposing team within the time limit. The game uses a top-down perspective with simple sprites. Movement is smooth with the D-pad. Press the A button to jump for rebounds or to shoot. Use the B button to sprint and to throw a punch when close to an opponent. Experiment with both strategies - sometimes a well-timed hit is more effective than a pass.

There are no complicated menus or options - just pick a team and play. The computer AI is fairly basic but can be aggressive. Remember that fouling occurs frequently, but there are no free throws; the game just gives possession to the other team after a foul. This keeps the action fast and arcadey.
